Panopticon
So when I think terrorist, you know who comes to mind, thats right PETA and Greenpeace. The ACLU has gotten documents that show that the FBI has been spying on these groups using wire taps and “infiltrators” for years now. What the fuck. What is PETA going to do, throw red paint on the pentagon and scream “fur is murder” ohhhhh lets spy on them. And Greenpeace?! they have the word peace in their name for gods sake. Big brother is here boys and girls, we are in big big trouble.
The documents, disclosed as part of a lawsuit that challenges FBI treatment of groups that planned demonstrations at last year’s political conventions, show the bureau has opened a preliminary terrorism investigation into People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, the well-known animal rights group based in Norfolk.
The papers offer no proof of PETA’s involvement in illegal activity. But more than 100 pages of heavily censored FBI files show the agency used secret informants and tracked the group’s events for years, including an animal rights conference in Washington in July 2000, a community meeting at an Indiana college in spring 2003 and a planned August 2004 protest of a celebrity fur endorser.
The documents show the FBI cultivated sources such as a “well insulated” PETA insider, who attended the 2000 meeting to gain credibility “within the animal rights/Ruckus movements.” The FBI also kept information on Greenpeace and the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, the papers show.

Thank The Errm Lord?
Seems that there are still things in this world that are sacred. Science being one of them, at least in Dover, Pennsylvania. The judge hearing the intelligent design case basicly told it like it is.
“The citizens of the Dover area were poorly served by the members of the Board who voted for the ID Policy,” Jones wrote. “It is ironic that several of these individuals, who so staunchly and proudly touted their religious convictions in public, would time and again lie to cover their tracks and disguise the real purpose behind the ID Policy.”
The board’s attorneys said members sought to improve science education by exposing students to alternatives to Charles Darwin’s theory of natural selection causing gradual changes over time; intelligent-design proponents argue that it cannot fully explain the existence of complex life forms.
The plaintiffs argued that intelligent design amounts to a secular repackaging of creationism, which the courts have already ruled cannot be taught in public schools.
The Dover policy required students to hear a statement about intelligent design before ninth-grade biology lessons on evolution. The statement said Charles Darwin’s theory is “not a fact,” has inexplicable “gaps,” and refers students to an intelligent-design textbook, “Of Pandas and People,” for more information.
Jones said advocates of intelligent design “have bona fide and deeply held beliefs which drive their scholarly endeavors” and that he didn’t believe the concept shouldn’t be studied and discussed.
“Our conclusion today is that it is unconstitutional to teach ID as an alternative to evolution in a public school science classroom,” he wrote

Agents’ visit chills UMass Dartmouth senior
By AARON NICODEMUS, Standard-Times staff writer
NEW BEDFORD — A senior at UMass Dartmouth was visited by federal agents two months ago, after he requested a copy of Mao Tse-Tung’s tome on Communism called “The Little Red Book.”
Two history professors at UMass Dartmouth, Brian Glyn Williams and Robert Pontbriand, said the student told them he requested the book through the UMass Dartmouth library’s interlibrary loan program.
The student, who was completing a research paper on Communism for Professor Pontbriand’s class on fascism and totalitarianism, filled out a form for the request, leaving his name, address, phone number and Social Security number. He was later visited at his parents’ home in New Bedford by two agents of the Department of Homeland Security, the professors said.

Bush Admits To Spying On Americans
Not only did he admit to spying on us, he got angry at the NY Times for letting us know about it. Well paint me red and call me a commie, but personally i think the NY Times should get a medal for trying to keep us free from illegal monitoring by big brother. What the hell is going on here. The “war on terror” doesn’t give you the right to read my emails, jebus. We are in big trouble if people don’t start taking to the streets in protest. I think every citizen of this country needs to vote for new leaders in 2006. If not we are in bad shape.
In his weekly address, he confirmed a report which appeared in the New York Times on Friday - and attacked it.
Because of the newspaper report, “our enemies have learned information they should not have”, he said.
Senator Arlen Specter, the Republican chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee , said “there is no doubt that this is inappropriate”, adding that Senate hearings would be held early next year as “a very, very high priority”.
“This is Big Brother run amok,” was the reaction of Democratic Senator Edward Kennedy.
Senator Russell Feingold, another Democrat, called it a “shocking revelation” that “ought to send a chill down the spine of every senator and every American”.

We All Knew This Was True (seems the 2000 elections could have been easily rigged)
So with more and more fuss over spying on Americans, and the problem with torture and the PATRIOT act, it has now come to light that someone could have easily rigged the 2000 election with a simple black card.

Sancho began investigating the problem after watching the votes come in during the infamous 2000 presidential election. In Volusia County precinct 216, a memory card added more than 200 votes to George W. Bush’s total and subtracted 16,000 votes from Al Gore. The mistake was later corrected during a hand count.
After watching his computer expert change vote totals this week, Sancho said that he now believes someone on the inside did the same thing in Volusia County in 2000.
“Someone with access to the vote center in Volusia County put it on a memory card and uploaded it into the main system,” Sancho said.
Some days you are just terrified that the whole system is coming down around your ears. Lets just hope the PATRIOT act filibuster continues, and that more and more of this stuff comes to light and it encourages people to go vote these idiots out of office.
Signs Of Hope (Or Signs Of Doom), You Decide
So it seems things are going well for us, the people who care about the future of this nation as free and fair. The scandal of Jack Abramoff is spreading. This is good because we are cleaning out the scum of the nation. I predict this goes right up to some higher ups. Abramoff’s business partner Adam Kidan is squealing. Moving on. Bush has admitted in recent speeches that he went to war on improper intelligence and that he takes full responcibility…is an impeachment far off? Unfortunately for this nation, probably not. He is so weak politically that he cant even manage to veto an anti-torture bill. Thats right, after months of pressure, the McCain amendment banning cruel and degrading behavior looks like its going to pass. It is an insult to every soldier that has been a POW in America for our president to threaten to veto an act that serves to enforce high moral standards. Moving on. Iraq seems to have held its trigger finger off the bomb long enough yesterday to hold an election. While this is probably not going to solve every problem they have, it is a good sign. Lets hope that when they figure out that they all cant be in charge that a civil war doesn’t break out. And what might be the best news of the day, our media seems to be waking up and realizing that its job is to fuck with the man. The new York times and others are reporting that Bush authorized big brother like secret survielance on thousands of Americans ILLEGALLY! Its time to wake up people. Sleeping through our civil duties is going to get us all killed/thrown in jail/turned into zombies/turned into slaves. To close, it seems even some of our leaders are waking up. There is a threatened filibuster of the USA PATRIOT act renewal bill is in the works. Lets hope they can pull it off.
MONTHS after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, President George Bush secretly authorized the National Security Agency to eavesdrop on Americans and others within the US, to search for evidence of terrorist activity without the court-approved warrants ordinarily required for domestic spying.
Vice President Dick Cheney lobbied Republicans against the legislation, saying prohibitions against torture already exist in U.S. law. The White House threatened to veto the entire defense appropriation bill if the measure was included.
Killing People Is Wrong, To Prove This We Are Going To Kill You
Stanly “Tookey” Williams is dead. He was convicted of killing four people, to prove to everyone just how wrong killing people is our justice system put him to death. So now I guess the justice system is going to be put to death, for killing him, and then we will have to put those people to death….etc. etc. Killing someone who is already in jail for life does nothing to make people safer. On top of all this Williams had spent his time in jail working to make the world a better place. Not only was he punished by loosing his freedom for the rest of his life, and society was safe because he was safe in jail, but was doing something GOOD for the outside world of his own volition. Killing him did nothing to help anyone. It didn’t bring back the people he killed, it didn’t make our world safer. All it did was kill a man who was doing something good for us. Foolish, simply foolish. It also costs more to kill someone than to keep them in jail for life, and it wasts a lot of time in our justice system. Foolish.

Oil Depot Explodes
Wow, this is crazy, an oil depot north of London exploded, sending toxic nasty smoke smothering the town. This is not going to help the UK meet its Kyoto protocol required emissions standards.

For Shame…For Shame
We are in trouble people, big trouble. Our government is not respecting the rights of its people. We must get new leaders, leaders that care about us. Leaders that care about the world. This is our job as citizens. It seems we picked up a German guy drugged him, tortured him and kept him imprisoned in another country. Why you might ask, because he was unlucky enough to have the same name as someone else. What the hell! Also our leaders have been denying access by the red cross to prisoners. American credibility is at stake here people, we are supposed to be the city on the hill, we are supposed to be the good guys. Did someone forget to tell our president that?
“On December 31, 2003, I boarded a bus in Ulm, Germany for a holiday in Skopje, Macedonia. When the bus crossed the border … Macedonian officials confiscated my passport and detained me for several hours,” al-Masri said in the statement.
The next three weeks, he said, he was held in a hotel room and repeatedly questioned about his life at home, including his contacts and his mosque.
Al-Masri said that on Jan. 23, 2004, seven or eight Macedonian men entered the room, handcuffed and blindfolded him, placed him in a car and drove him to what he believes was an airfield.
“I was taken from the car, and led to a building where I was severely beaten by people’s fists and what felt like a thick stick. Someone sliced the clothes off my body, and when I would not remove my underwear, I was beaten again until someone forcibly removed them from me,” he said in the ACLU statement.
Al-Masri said he was then dressed in a diaper and a tracksuit and put in a belt with chains that attached to his wrists and ankles. He claims he was blindfolded, hooded and marched onto a plane, where he says he was thrown to the floor and his arms and legs were secured to the sides of the aircraft. He said he was then drugged into a state of near unconsciousness.
