Speak Loud
My friends we need more of this. Kennedy lets everyone know what is at stake. Too bad its too little too late.

Kick At The Darkness Until It Bleeds Daylight
Just because it looks as if Alito is going to be put on the bench does NOT mean we should give up. We must use this event to galvanize the public. Everyone is going to wake up tomorrow turn on the news and realize just how screwed they are. Its time to organize, the netroots people have done an amazing job getting this almost filibuster off the ground. We organized, we faxed, we called, we emailed, and now we need to vote. Its time to clean house. Every idiot senator that didn’t vote the way you wanted, every moronic incumbent representative that only cares about getting rich on kick backs, its time to vote them all out. Hell I don’t care if you are a Democrat or a republican, its time for some new blood. Get er done people.

What Is Iraq Missing
Some h5n1 thats what. These people don’t need anymore problems but damn it now they got them.
SULAIMANIYAH, Iraq — A 15-year-old Iraqi girl who died earlier this month is now believed to be that country’s — and the Middle East’s — first case of H5N1 avian flu, Iraqi and World Health Organization authorities confirmed Monday.
The girl’s uncle, who tended her while she was sick and who died 10 days after she did, is also suspected of being a case. A WHO official said the agency needs to investigate the possibility that the man may have become infected by his niece.
…
The prospect of a bird flu outbreak in Iraq is especially alarming because the country is gripped by armed insurgency and lacks the resources of other governments in the region. Government institutions, however, are most effective in the Kurdish-run area of the north where the girl lived.
Kurdistan Health Ministry official Najimuldin Hassan said 14 people have recently been admitted to local hospitals exhibiting bird flu symptoms, but just two remain in Sulaimaniyah Teaching Hospital suspected of possibly having the disease.
It could take up to three weeks to find out how the virus entered Iraq and how it will be contained, WHO spokesman Dick Thompson said, adding that the security situation in Iraq would not prevent doctors from going to help.
“We need to identify what the source of this child’s exposure was and to conduct epidemiological tests in the field,” Thompson said. “It has to be in the environment somewhere and we need to identify that before going ahead in assessing control or (bird) elimination efforts,” the WHO official said
I Have Nothing To Hide
So I was talking with my mom on the phone the other day about spying on US citizens without a warrant, and my mother said “I don’t care, I have nothing to hide.” Well it seems like she might have been wrong, because a couple days later she sent me this wonderful video, about what happens when you don’t have the right to privacy. It displays what can happen when people know too much about you.

We Can Stop Alito
LEGIONS OF THE INTERNET ARISE! So we are not just complaining on our blogs anymore. The liberal left of this nation is going to do its damnedest to stop Alito. Spurning by thousands of letter, phone calls, emails, and faxes, and lead by Kennedy and Kerry (good old liberal Mass.) are going to try and filibuster Alito. Seems they might even pull it off, and all the white the mainstream media is reporting thats its impossible and that its not happening. Well foo on you main stream media. Help out, try this little gem, lets you annoy the fuck out of your senator so they will earn their pay.

Harry Belafonte My New Hero
So from what I had heard on NPR and CNN Harry Belafonte seemed to come off kind of like a left wing nut. But when you give him some time to talk (and use Wolf Blitzer as an idiotic sounding board) he comes off as a very intelligent and inspiring speaker. What I like best about Harry is that he doesn’t take one thing back. Unlike most idiots in the public sphere that are constantly saying stupid shit and then taking it back *cough* Pat Robertson *cough*, Harry pulls no punches and freely admits to saying everything he said. He seems truly genuine when he says that he is trying steer the conversation towards what no one is talking about. Namely how we are being fucked over by our government and how we are heading towards a fascist state.

Hope For The Future
Seems a couple youngins still got some fight in em. This made me very happy.

Alberto Gonzales spoke before law students at Georgetown today, justifying illegal, unauthorized surveilance of US citizens, but during the course of his speech the students in class did something pretty ballsy and brave. They got up from their seats and turned their backs to him.
To make matters worse for Gonzales, additional students came into the room, wearing black cowls and carrying a simple banner, written on a sheet.
Fortunately for him, it was a brief speech… followed by a panel discussion that basically ripped his argument a new asshole. And, as one of the people on the panel said,
“When you’re a law student, they tell you if say that if you can’t argue the law, argue the facts. They also tell you if you can’t argue the facts, argue the law. If you can’t argue either, apparently, the solution is to go on a public relations offensive and make it a political issue… to say over and over again “it’s lawful”, and to think that the American people will somehow come to believe this if we say it often enough.
In light of this, I’m proud of the very civil civil disobedience that was shown here today.”

Vote Now While It Will Still Count
This is scary. Seems electronic voting is very easy to hack into and change results.
older posts »Four times over the past year Sancho told computer specialists to break in to his voting system. And on all four occasions they did, changing results with what the specialists described as relatively unsophisticated hacking techniques. To Sancho, the results showed the vulnerability of voting equipment manufactured by Ohio-based Diebold Election Systems, which is used by Leon County and many other jurisdictions around the country.
Sancho’s most recent demonstration was last month. Harri Hursti, a computer security expert from Finland, manipulated the “memory card” that records the votes of ballots run through an optical scanning machine.
Then, in a warehouse a few blocks from his office in downtown Tallahassee, Sancho and seven other people held a referendum. The question on the ballot:
“Can the votes of this Diebold system be hacked using the memory card?”
Two people marked yes on their ballots, and six no. The optical scan machine read the ballots, and the data were transmitted to a final tabulator. The result? Seven yes, one no.
“Was it possible for a disgruntled employee to do this and not have the elections administrator find out?” Sancho asked. “The answer was yes.”
