The Prez

Written by Rt

george_w_bush.jpgNow, I love our president, he’s a likable guy. People blame him for the policies made in Washington but he’s just the dupe – the front man for more sinister, more established forces, at work. George? He’s ok. He reminds me of Prez Grant – got elected for the wrong reasons, couldn’t handle the job, got run over by interested parties. Not a bad man, just couldn’t say no.

I especially like listening to the president speak (or reading the words afterward in most cases). He can be a hoot. In this example the says:

I like to tell people part of my job is to be the educator-in-chief.

You can tell them if you want GW but that don’t make it true. A great chuckle.

… what dreamers are doing to enable us to achieve a very important national goal, and that is to become less dependent on oil from overseas, thereby ensuring that our national security interests are better intact and our economic security interests are better intact and that we’re better stewards of the environment. That’s what we’re here to talk about.

He doesn’t say less dependent on oil, just the stuff from “overseas”. “Our economic security interests” is probably better than saying our special interest groups with powerful lobbies and large campaign contributions. The fact that the environment is last on the list speaks volumes by itself.
Then he gets into being the nice guy that he is and chatting up the crowd. You really shouldn’t hate the man – hate the game (better yet, learn how to play the game). There are plenty of Georgeisms if you look:

And some day you’re going to be able to get in your car, particularly if you’re a big-city person, and drive 40 miles on a battery.

Sorry, you rural folk won’t get to go 40 miles on a battery. We don’t what you’ll get but it won’t be 40 miles.

And if we’re able to drive the first 40 miles, or, say, 20 miles, on gasoline [sic] there’s a lot of big-city folks that will never have to use a drop of gasoline on a daily basis.

Why? Will we only drive the second 40, or 20, miles and skip the first ones?

In other words, the demand for corn, because of agricultural use, and now energy use, is causing corn prices to go up

Nothin gets by ‘ol GW, no sir. The rest of it is pretty dry but if you like to read that kind of stuff the it’s available. The part about people with PHDs is worth a chuckle. I feel sorry for the guy who works for the NREL. I imagine he wanted to ask Bush why he’s there talking since his budget was cut. George is probably not even aware it was cut. All of GW’s lines seem like they are coming from a stand-up comedian instead of the president of the US.
