Renewable Energy Roundup

Its Thursday, you know what that means. No, its time for the Renewable Energy Roundup!!!! (caps optional exclamation point mandatory) Time to wrangle all the eco-news that fell through the eco-cracks to get posted in a giant link frenzy. Hold on here we go.

Inspired by Keith’s comment on my post about living free, I found this little gem about freegans. I guess its more fun to call it freeganism than dumpster diving, but either way it is a good idea.

Could we be putting these things in our cell phones soon, charge them up by walking them around in our pockets? Check out these tiny generators that produce electricity from motion around them.

Germany wants to be 50% renewable by 2030. Meanwhile in America we are still bitching about increasing fuel economy just a little.

Speaking of Europeans being way way way ahead of us in the renewable energy field, they are already testing new floating wind turbines.

The good people at yanko design thing they might have a solution for energy vampires. Energy vampires are the little devices all over your house that still use energy even when they are “off”. Slick design.

I have so got to get me one of these. The Busycle seats 15, and kicks a significant amount of ass. Check it out.

You might someday be able to run your LED bulbs on new hyper efficient solar cells. New cells put out by Spectrolab, have achieved an astonishingly high efficiency rate of 40.1% To give you an idea of this achievement, most solar cells on the market now have an efficiency rating of 13-15%.
