Major Green Website To Award Product Of The Year To “Nothing At All”

Empty Plinth

In a bizarre but brilliant move, a source close to the green news and products web site Treehugger.com has revealed that it is to award its coveted Product Of The Year to “Nothing At All”.

Accused by some people of selling out after its acquisition by Discovery Communications this year, the popular web site has decided to show what it really thinks of eco products by putting its stamp of approval not on a specific product, but on the idea of buying nothing at all.

The source, who asked to remain anonymous, said:

The cavalcade of so-called ‘eco’ products has been starting to get me down. Environmentalists are supposed to be making things better, not selling lifestyles to make people feel better; so I was really pleased when I heard that the award was going to take such a radical – and responsible – turn.

Treehugger.com would not confirm the status of the award when asked, instead saying that with Christmas just around the corner, they had some great gifts to suit everyone.

  1. At last! After living “Off the grid” for a number of years, I am amazed and disgusted at the costs of “green” technology products. One would need to be an oil or coal magnate to afford this stuff! No wonder environmentalists are laughed at. At this rate, society will stick with the status quo, thank you very much, and with good reason!
