Thursday Bicycle Round Up

I felt like posting some fun bike stuff, and its Thursday, so here we go.

First this is a SWEET idea. A bicycle that creates clean water, and hauls it to where you are going, all in one step.

The Aquaduct is pedal powered vehicle that transports, filters, and stores water for the developing world. A peristaltic pump attached to the pedal crank draws water from a large tank, through a carbon filter, to a smaller clean tank. The clean tank is removable and closed for contamination-free home storage and use. A clutch engages and disengages the drive belt from the pedal crank, enabling the rider to filter the water while traveling or while stationary.(via)

Next up, this little vision of utopia. Yesterday I had to pull of some serious “bob and weave” to get around the massive cluster of cars on the road. For some reason everyone decided it would be a fun time if all the cars just did whatever they wanted with no regard to traffic lights and stop signs. There was one intersection where I was literally the only thing moving on wheels (both of them). Suffice to say, I got home a lot sooner than everyone in a car.

Some day Boston could be like this, lets hope so.

Speaking of Boston, I have no idea of this is real (I be thinking it ain’t) but what a great idea!
